Note by Ed Gallop, Sr.: Ed tied his first fly in about 1980,
at the age of 5 or 6. I wasn't aware that he was watching me tie some
Russian River salmon flies until he asked if he could tie one. I sat him
in my lap, put a hook in the vise, and without any help or advice he tied the
fly pictured.
He was very
proud of that fly and so was I.

Pictured at below is
Ed in his favorite environment... a wild trout river. His dad took these
pictures one foggy morning on the Smith River in Virginia.
