The tail and
dorsal fin was colored with Sharpie black and red markers. The head is
Sharpie red. All the materials are Clearwater Dressing.
This minnow grows
to 5-1/2 inches and are found in the upper Tennessee River drainage, western
Virginia, western North Carolina, northern Georgia, and northern Alabama.
The breeding male has pink sides and a red snout from mid-April to
mid-June. Fish the gravel and rubble riffles, and adjacent pools of clear
fast creeks and small to medium sized rivers.
I tie my minnows
1-1/2 to 2-1/2 inches long using size 4 hooks down to size 10.
Here are a couple
other
minnows I haven't named.
