Although
native of Germany I'm a citizen of the United States living temporarily
in
Germany. Most of my 50 years have been spent in the USA, where I
started
fly fishing in Michigan and New Hampshire. I now live (temporarily) in
Germany, but I do most of my angling in close-by Austria, fishing for
bows, browns, and grayling,
preferably with bamboo and dries. I frequently return to the States to
fish with
friends.
I've been a fly tier for well over 20 years. I don't specialize in anything,
but tie whatever the occasion calls for, be it small parachutes and CDC's for the
Austrian streams or big gaudy flies for Alaska. One of my favorite patterns is the
Montana Variant (a Montana Nymph and Wooly Bugger hybrid), pictured below.
It has worked well for me both in Europe and the United States.
