About me
"Been fishing all my life, starting in April 1928, when mother fell in the river three weeks before I was
born.  Fished with a hand line behind the boat in the beginning.  My first rod was a telescoping steel
fly rod which I used to fish worms and grasshoppers.

Moved to Ontario 1942 where I learned to fish all over again
for bass, walleye, sunfish and perch.  Returned to Alberta in 1957 to re-learn trout fishing and eventually fly
fishing.
I am a self taught fly
fisherman as there were no schools, fly shops or anyone I knew to learn from.

I was a partner in Calgary's first full
fly shop for twelve years where I taught fly fishing, rod building, and fly tying.
I am now retired after suffered a heart attack and bypass, but spend as many days as I see fit enjoying
the streams of Alberta, B.C. and Montana.

My
other major hobbies are wildflowers and
photography.  These two help me through the spring runoff each year.  I
have also taken to pike fishing with a fly the last couple of
years, something else to get me outdoors.

I am responsible for popularizing Frenchman's Creek which I borrowed from the late Robert Traver
many years ago.  He said "I will call it Frenchman's Creek because that is not the name of it".

I am married to a very understanding lady (49yrs).  We have one daughter, five grand children and four great
grand children.  They all live here in Calgary."
