Caleb Boyle

I am fourteen years old (as of 2004) and have lived all my life in North Carolina.  I started fly fishing about three years ago and tying about a year after.  I was inspired as I read every fly fishing and fly tying book in my local library.  I love designing my own patterns and finding new and better tying techniques.

I have an aquarium in my room stocked with aquatic insects that I collected with a seine from local trout streams.   I enjoy observing the insects in their natural habitat and watch them hatch into adults.

I fish mostly for trout in the mountains of North Carolina and in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  My dad does not fish, but he is nice enough to take me fishing about once a month, which I am very grateful for.

To pay for my expensive sport my brother and I operate a lawn business.  I also sell local fly patterns at the Great Outdoors Provision Company in Charlotte, NC.  I sold over 400 flies during my first year of selling flies.

I am a part of a local forum where I won 1st place twice and 2nd place once in fly tying contests.

See more of my flies at www.calebboyle.com.  Please note that I also sell my flies on that web site.

Note by Ed Gallop:  It was a pleasure photographing Caleb's flies.  A close-up inspection revealed an obvious talent and creativeness that could easily make him well known in the fly tying arena some day.  He is an excellent tier.  Ed.
